Generally, a locate expires after 60 days from the date the member or member’s locate service provider completes the locate request. After 60 days, an excavator may request a “Relocate” of the original request. The original request number, new request number, and “RELOCATE” are referenced on the request generated to the member. In the event that contact must be made with the member again at the request of the excavator before the 60-day expiry date, (i.e. locate markings have faded due to weather, locate not yet completed after work to begin date has passed, etc.), the excavator may request a “Remark”.
